My Life On the Z List

Well, "Hello" again everyone!  It has been a really long time since I've written in this blog, and I greatly apologize for that.  It seems that when you're working 6 days a week for 3 months, the last thing that seems to enter your mind is updating something like this.  However, here I am again in with hopes that the words I need will not escape my mind or my fingertips before I can finish this blog.  In my absence I have attempted to write an entry or two, but I haven't had much success, motivation, or content to include.  This time, I think I have found the cure.... Love! Where to begin!?  The beginning seems like the most logical place, but that requires some thinking on my part, so let me try to do this....  Let's see...  It  all began about 2 months ago.  At work, we have what we CDI-ers like to call the "Share Folder."  Basically, in this folder we are able to access all of our important work documents such as tests, supplemental readings to

January has been a busy month for me at work!  The students had the whole month of January off for their winter break/holiday season, so that meant that I had to pick up an extra class.   I'm not sure how things work at other "hagwons," or English academies, but Chungdahm offers extra classes called "Winter Intensives" during the breaks that students have from regular school.  So, I believe this means that the classes are offered during winter break and summer break.  What this means for teachers like me is that we are required to teach an extra lesson 2-3 days a week, on top of the other 2 lessons that we would normally have. Another thing to keep in mind about the intensive classes is that they are different from the regular classes that are usually offered by Chungdahm.  For example, there are debate classes, newspaper classes, literature classes, or classes in which the students read chapter books or novels like Because of Winn Dixie.   I think the purp

Well, I'm officially approaching the three month mark on my year in Korea, and I honestly can't believe that two months have already passed.  It's gone by relatively fast, but not without notice....  All I seem to want to do is lie in my bed, watch every episode of The Golden Girls, listen to music on my iTunes, and drink beer, and at some point pass out..... which I'm not sure if that's from the beer, lack of sleep or from complete boredom!
